SIX MONTHS!

On June 1st we officially achieved SIXTH MONTHS of weddedness!! :) As I've exceeded my allotted amount of sappiness in recent posts I'll simply give you 10 fun reasons why there is no one on this planet like Mr. Kristofer Sundberg.

1. When Kris is about to do something mischevious he gets a big smile on his face and licks the side of his mouth
2. Kris likes to touch feet when he sleeps and sometimes when we kiss it makes his mouth tickle
3. When Kris gets super stressed or anxious - he laughs REALLY hard, unnaturally and slightly psychotic at first...and then it turns into hysterical laughter - at which point I'm either really scared or laughing hysterically too
4. Kris was brought down to the local police station during college for writing an email to a friend that had the word BOMB in it
5. Kris is insanely good at Ultimate Frisbee - and had the entire LDS "Ultimate" population in LA combine against us to beat our team in the tournament last year
6. I've never seen anyone that can keep their cool like Kris - he never yells or even raises his voice (besides the psychotic laughter, naturally)
7. Kris and his friend Nick invented the sport "Smashpong" - http://www.smashpong.com/ which now has several dedicated enthusiasts
8. Kris doesn't believe in buying cards and will leave little notes for me on old wrappers, receipts, and paper towels
9. Kris is an amazing photographer - http://www.photographybytof.blogspot.com/ and drummer
10. Kris is a hopeless romantic. He loves to love which makes it really fun to be his wife and he literally finds beauty in everything

Compass

One of the cutest things Kris said to me before we got married was, "I can just picture us when we're 80 years old, at a wedding, teasing eachother, holding hands, happier than the bride and groom." I loved that image and I can see it too. Don't all married people hope for that? Maybe we're hopeless romantics.

Well, our little dream may have been SHATTERED THIS WEEKEND as Kris and his buddies...yes, got lost on Mount Shasta! Go ahead, ask me...how do most people DIE (yep people die up there) while summiting Mount Shasta? What was that, getting lost in snow storms you say? RIGHT.



Had they brought the COMPASS I GAVE THEM, instead of just a topographical map, this would not have been such a problem. Ahem...

Alas, through prayers and more prayers - twice the clouds parted so they could see more than just a few feet in front of them to find their way. I call it a miracle. Kris is sure it was.

P.S. Yesterday we had a story-book reunion by a river in Oakland, CA. It really was like a movie... At dinner he even made me feel shy the way he kept looking at me, cute huh? (we all know I'm not shy)

P.P.S. I'm pretty sure he's "over" ice climbing. I'm very sure that I am.

Manliness

This is where Kris will be for the long weekend. He called it a "birthday present" for one of his friends. Ha. More like tricky word play, if you ask me. But I salute them, because women do that all the time. Nice work, dear.

Summiting Mount Shasta (14,000 plus feet) when it's FREEZING is not an easy task. I guess it makes them feel manly.




And I? Well, I actually went up over 15,000 a few years back BUT it was in Peru and it was warm and well, it was gradual. No ice axes, no crampons, no ice screws and ropes. Oh and I STILL got altitude sick for one day and it wasn't pretty. Had it not been for a lovely little donkey, I may have demanded a helicopter ;)

So while he goes on an andrenaline death wish, I'm going to my parents for the weekend.

P.S. Here's to a beautiful six months, honey. And here's to life insurance policies.

Spiderman Kiss

What is it about playing in the rain that we love so much? Surrending to the moment? Feeling like a kid again? Connecting with nature?





Whatever it is...I'm not sure anyone loves it more than Kris and I. Southern California has eternally "good weather" so a big rain storm is like Christmas morning.

Plus, we all remember (and probably have tried to recreate) the infamous Spiderman I kiss. I'll spare you the pics.

P.S. Balboa is great for photo shoots, a ferris wheel, and frozen chocolate covered bananas.

5 Minutes of Fame!

Looks like our crazy little excursion last Saturday made it into the sailing newsletter! HAHA. Here is what they said:

"There were 5 boats on the water on Saturday and I feel the need to give one of the sailors (and his wife) the title of "Sailor of the Week" for this week. I don't know his name but he has an H16 with a sail number 3, just to give you an Idea of how old the boat was. Some of you may have seen him before but he got to the beach at about 3:15. He brought no beach wheels and had to drag his boat to the water. The wind's were blowing between 15 & 20 as he struggled to rig his boat head-to-wind (backwards).

All the veteran sailors were watching in awe as he (and his wife) launched his boat through the pounding surf and spray. They were soaked even before they got off the beach. And get this . . . . "no wetsuits!" His wife, not as enthusiastic as he but enthusiastic none the less, was right there with him. They sailed off into the late afternoon overcast as most of the other boats were coming in. One of the veteran sailors walked over to me and said 'That guy's gotta be crazy'. I leaned over to him and replied 'No, his desire to sail is just greater than yours.'.

I can remember just last year when Patrick and I launched solo in the same conditions and people called us crazy. Well, we were at least wearing wetsuits. Or the time that Carl (the mad man) and Tony launched in the fog. I was even calling them crazy. If we think back, we all can remember those times when the threat of harm or even death failed to deter us one bit from taking advantage of an opportunity to get on the water. This was before we got to the age where rational judgment sets in. Hmmmmm, I must not be there yet."

P.S. When he sent us the newsletter he said in the email, "Whether you know it or not, you have been an inspiration to many". And that, well that just made us feel good :) Even though apparently we are crazy and not detered by the threat of death. HAHA.

51% Shareholder

What color should we paint the kitchen? Well, we decided today - as I was sitting on the front of his longboard and he was pushing me to "Taco Tuesday" for dinner - that I get to pick the color. Why? Take a look at that pile of laundry.



APPARENTLY I am the CEO of our house, the 51% shareholder and executive decision-maker because when I'm not around (like, on a business trip, for instance) the laundry just grows and grows. All systems down.

We'll see if he can buy back a point (the breakfast in bed and flowers Sunday morning almost turned the market back in his favor).

P.S. And in case anyone was wondering...that was six loads.

Industrial Art?

So we went out the other night looking for a fun place to practice with our cameras. Kris had his new (very cool) 5D and I had his good ole hand-me-down.



We live in Southern California by some of the MOST beautiful landscapes, beaches, mountains, and sunsets in the world and where did we end up?

Yep, a junk yard.

FHE Activity

Since I no longer have girl roommates, things around the house are a little different. Thankfully Kris is willing to step up to the plate when duty calls...



Hey! I've picked up some of his hobbies too! And there's no abuse going on here - he loved it, look at that face! Ha ;)

Red sky in the morning, sailor take warning. Red sky at night, sailor's delight.

Apparently we caused quite a commotion with the local sailors on Saturday when we got started so late and without wetsuits on (there's a sailing "family" down here in So Cal - they meet up on Long Beach on Saturdays. Some have been doing this for the past twenty years!)

Yes, we got a late start but we had been excited all day to go. It was our first sail of the year and it was awesome!!





Thankfully one of our friends hung around with his set of wheels to help us pull the boat up the beach. I'm not sure we could've done it without him!!
