Crossing that line

The infamous "they" (no one really knows who they are, it's apparently just common knowledge) say in the final weeks of pregnancy you are SO SO uncomfortable that the horrific fear of giving birth is replaced by the anxiety to get the baby out.

I have to be honest. I didn't buy it. Not until the past few days.

I still have almost three weeks to go and the past few days I've been so uncomfortable. Stomach hurting, braxton hicks, exhaustion, major back pain, lack of sleep. During church I couldn't sit still, trying to find a comfortable position. A lady came up to me after and said, "You must be having a serious case of braxton hicks". Glad to know I'm that pathetic and obvious about being uncomfortable. Haha.

So for all those who have asked, thanks for keeping me in your thoughts. I'm not tortured yet. That may be coming soon. Although I have lost the desire to cook, clean, or really do anything but lay around and be lazy.

And on that note...tomorrow is my last day of work before maternity leave, my doctor appointment that should clarify how far along I am, and my baby shower. It'll be a good day!

A Sundberg Christmas...

...and it couldn't have been better. I think it's safe to say with the baby coming and usual trips around the hoildays that this Christmas was the only Christmas Kris and I will ever have alone, at least for years and years to come.

It was perfect.

A Christmas Eve candlelit choir at a local Catholic church, a walk around Huntington Beach's most famous "Christmas lights" neighborhood (I've never seen anything like it), dragging the mattress into the living room to sleep under the Christmas tree, dancing around the room to "The Nutcracker" (sorry, i tried to fuzz out my stomach in that one...), making Wassail for the first time, and laughing our heads off while watching "A Christmas Story".

P.S. The crowning moment for me was Christmas morning...there was a box we already opened under the tree that I went to throw out while we were cleaning up the room but it felt like it had something in it. Kris stood there smiling as I reached inside and pulled out a "blurb" hardback photobook with a HUNDRED PAGES, filled with our favorite memories from our first year of marriage (you can preview a few of those pages here in case you want to make one too: http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/447707 )

I'm not much of a crier but as soon as I saw the cover and realized what it was, I burst into tears and continued crying while we flipped through every page.

A Stud

Forgive me for the historical use of the word "stud" and for this slightly "high-schoolish" post.

Last night I got to sit in a huge, comfy candlelit leather booth and watch my husband "jam out" to the blues on his drum at "The Mint" in LA where musical icons such as Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, and Natalie Cole have played.

Kris has a friend, Shaun Barrowes (http://shaunbarrowes.blogspot.com/) who is an extremely talented musician. He was on American Idol last season and now he's working on a few theme songs for movies in Hollywood. He plays at jazz clubs around LA and Orange County in his spare time and asks Kris to be his drummer for some of these gigs.

I have to admit - so what if I'm hugely pregnant, waddling around, unable to sit in one position for more than five seconds - I felt pretty cool when he came right off the stage to my booth to give his big ole pregnant wife a big ole kiss when he was finished playing.

So a shout out to my studly husband who makes me feel cool even when I'm an invalid.

The Sundberg Clan

Here we are! The whole Sundberg clan :) I would have posted the pic earlier but it was a Christmas present for the fam. Kris took the pic, naturally :) when we were visiting Virginia back in October. I have WONDERFUL in-laws. Geigle family pic coming soon.

And, yes, I was prego in this pic too so don't look too close at the posterior region. Now you all will since I even said that, shame on you.
